Father’s Day Gift Idea! Make your own fishing Lures!

If your dad LOVES fishing these personalized fishing Lures are the right choice. Why not getting the kids to make their own? of course always under your supervision.

 

These fishing lures are fun to make and regardless of the fact that they might not be the best lures for fishing, they look great and your dad will know you made it yourself so that is definitely a plus!

So let’s get into it:

 

Supplies

  • Fishing hooks. (According to what your dad likes to fish most)
  • Sparkly pom poms
  • Pigtail headband
  • Sparkly feather trimmed slap bracelet
  •  glue
  • Fishing line
  • Sparkle gift bag filler

All supplies except for the fish hooks can be purchased at the dollar store.

PLEASE NOTE: Fishhooks are very sharp and should not be handled by children. Adults should use pliers and tweezers when possible to hold and handle items being pierced by hooks to avoid accidentally hooking your own hand.

Directions
Step 1: Make a head with a sparkle pom
Skewer a small sparkle pom with a hook and slide it up near the eye. Alternately, you can also purchase hooks that already have weighted heads at the top.

Step 2: Add a skirt.
You can use both the feathers that were peeled off of the slap bracelet as well as a pig tail taken from the pig tail head band as a skirt. Just piece the material and slide it up the shank against the head. Use glue to secure and scissors to trim ends.

Step 3: Add Sparkle
Jigs that catch the light attract fish attention. You could add a little bit of extra bling to one of the jigs by wrapping it in metallic pink strips of gift wrap packing material.
I added some of the green feathers with sparkle fibre to the top of the red skirted jig. The green feather jig I left as it was since the feathers had the sparkle in them already.
